The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) is a well-developed program recognized around the globe and is preparing students for university education after the program. The course is designed for high school students in Year 12 through 13.

The curriculum is made up of 6 subject groups and the core, namely the Theory of Knowledge (TOK), Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) and Extended Essay (EE).

The 6 subject groups are: (1) Studies in language and literature, (2) Language Acquisition, (3) Individuals and Societies, (4) Sciences, (5) Mathematics, and (6) Arts.

The program consists of both Internal Assessment (IA) and external assessment. For IAs, students are required to write essays or set up experiments based on their interests and apply what they have learned from the subjects.

The General Certificate of Education Advanced level (GCE A Level) is a widely recognized curriculum, usually adopted in the UK or schools using British curriculum. The course is designed for students who are studying in Grade 11 to 12 in high school. After that, students are going to the universities for further education.

Most students study three A level subjects during the two years of study before proceeding to tertiary education. There are different exam boards administering the exams, with Edexcel and Cambridge Assessment being the more common ones available in Hong Kong.

The International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) is a very popular English language curriculum and one of the most popular international qualification exams for 14 to 16-year-olds. The focus of the IGCSE curricular is to offer a wide range of options to learners with different types of abilities, including students whose first language is not English.

Students usually take 8-10 subjects. Upon completion, students will usually take IBDP or GCE A levels in the final two years of their study.

AP stands for Advanced Placement, which is a program in the United Stastes and Canada created by the College Board. AP serves a university entrance test for high school students. There are different subjects to choose from, and usually if a student has a high score in the AP subject test, the student can directly get university credit and is able to skip some of the introductory classes in the freshman year.

UKiset stands for the UK Independent Schools’ Entry Test. UKiset is an adaptive online entry test taken in English designed to support admission into the UK independent education system. UKiset is a n standardized assessment measuring four skills: non-verbal reasoning (solving problems with pictures and patterns), vocabulary, mathematics and other English skills such as grammar and reading.

The SAT stands for Scholastic Aptitude Test, which is a standardized test used for university admission in the United States. In the current setting, the SAT has two parts, English and Math. For the English part, it consists of reading, and language tests. For the Math test, there are two parts, one test allows the use of calculators while the other does not. All tests are done in a multiple choice format.

The ACT stands for American College Testing. Similar to the SAT, the ACT is a standardized test used for university admission in the United States. The test consists of English, Reading, Math, and Science. It is also in multiple choice and it is gaining more popularity as well.

IELTS stands for International English Language Testing System, and it is mainly for students who are pursuing their tertiary countries in an English speaking country, mainly the UK.The test aims to evaluate one’s ability to listen, read, and speak in English
